"It's renewed my confidence and gave me the push to fulfil a lifelong goal to compete in Strongman"

Name: Lee

Age: 42

What did you set out to achieve when you started at RSG?

Initially I started at RSG to lose weight and to gain more strength. My first week was an eyeopener not only to the various types of strength training but mostly to my habits around food.

How have your daily habits changed since starting at RSG?

I feel fitter, better within myself and it's renewed my confidence to be able to take my shirt off on holidays. I have changed my views on food, it’s not about eating less to lose weight but about choosing the right types of food in the right amounts.

What results have you achieved?

Since I started 3 years ago at around 103kg. I am now over 10kg lighter. I can now squat 160kg from 100kg, Bench Press has gone from 90kg to 135kg, Overhead Press has gone up to 95kg and Deadlift 225kg from 160kg.

I have always been interested in Strongman competitions since my early days and I thought one day I will give it a go. I entered my first novice competition in 2017 and have never looked back. I’ve qualified for two Strongman finals in the U90 category finishing in 1st place and 4th place.

What was your competition experience like?

The first strongman competition I was very nervous but I just thought block it out and enjoy the experience. It was a fantastic, friendly atmosphere. I’ve enjoyed competing so much that I have switched from the RISE program to the STRONG program to further my goals in strength sports.

What do you enjoy about RSG?

I love the way that training at RSG is like a team, everyone helps each other and if you are having a bad day at work coming to RSG changes this.

How does training at RSG differ from what you’ve done in the past?

I have total confidence in the instructors as they know what they are doing and in the past others I’ve tried haven’t had a clue.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about starting at RSG?

If you're thinking of joining RSG, I say sign up! You will not regret it!
